If you are a gamer then you already know the system requirements for PC games over the last year, and you’ll will notice that they ask for high specs. why?
If you see the recommended requirements of today’s latest games then you definitely a $20,000+ PC is necessary to play at 4K with max out settings. Luckily, you don’t need those system requirements, most of them are a bit overblown.
The most overblown component in these type of requirements is System Memory or RAM. Currently most of the latest games like COD : Modern Warfare need 16 GB of Ram to play at Recommended settings. But is it necessary to have 16 GB of this game or not ? lets find out.
To test if you actually need 16GB of RAM for gaming or not, we have used an 8GB kit of RAM – two 4GB sticks for dual-channel performance – into our test machine with an AMD Ryzen 9 3900X and an RTX 2080 Ti just to remove any other bottleneck. Also we ran all of our tests at 4K (3,840 x 2,160).
List of some games with fps according to the RAM
1. Metro Exodus
– At 4K and max settings you will get 36 fps with 16GB RAM & 34 fps with 8GB RAM
2. Middle Earth: Shadow of War
– At Max Settings you will get 75 fps at 16 GB & 74 fps at 8 GB
3. Apex Legends
– At Max Settings, 80+ FPS at 16 GB & 50+ FPS at 8GB
So, users with 8GB of RAM should be fine in the near future, especially if you’re not trying to play high graphics games like Battlefield V or Metro Exodus at 4K. Even if you’re playing the latest and greatest AAA games, if you’re turn down some settings then you should be fine with 8GB of RAM for a while.
If you’re the type of person who gets mad & frustrated if you can’t run a game maxed out at 120 fps, then you definitely need to pick up 16GB RAM kit.
If you just want to play some Overwatch or Some story mode games to escape from the everyday life for a while, 8GB is more than enough. You dont have to upgrade your RAM. Save your money and get new upgrades in near future.
